We believe the families of the incarcerated are "doing time" right along with their loved ones. Kairos Outside is designed to let those families know that there is a community that cares about them and their needs. Your introduction to the community is by attending a Kairos Outside Weekend event. The Weekend is a secure place for you to share your struggles with others and with those who are empathetic to your situation.  After the Weekend the KO community is a way to help strengthen the family unit and encourage small support groups for women to share their daily struggles, support your incarcerated loved ones, and deal with life without them while they are gone. The women on the outside, in many ways, have to be stronger than their relatives inside to survive in today's world. We hope Kairos Outside helps them find strength for their life journeys and gives them a chance to find and build friendships within the Christian community that may last a lifetime.

Many of you said this is a profound, life changing experience. Serving you has been a profound experience for me, too. Because you are worthy. The work and sacrifice you’ve done to keep yourself and your families together is to be respected. You are not only worthy of this, you are worthy of much more. Welcome to your community.

What We've Achieved

"I always assume people are going to judge me when they find out I had someone in prison; but it was humbling to find out these women not only liked me, but they loved me.”
— Kairos Outside Guest

Kairos gave me a place to be able to talk about my situation. I now have a whole new set of positive friends. I’m learning how I can help others, and how to be a team member. They even asked me to fill a leadership role, so I’m learning new skills, too. I’m so grateful.

Being a part of this wonderful Weekend was a beautiful blessing to me. Watching the transformation of our sisters was truly seeing God’s grace at work. Totally amazing!!
I am so grateful for all the hugs and love and prayers lifted up for me. I left a changed woman. Learning to “Listen-Listen/Love-Love” is something that I will take with me forever.
Thank you Sisters! I hope to see y’all at the Reunion!!

"I don't have the words to express how wonderful the outpouring of love and forgiveness is. It is so overwhelming. I don't have words, but I can sing...."

— Kairos Outside Guest

I came with my Mom. I told her, I’ll go with you to help you get around, but you know I don’t like to talk about it, and I said, will there be hugging there? you know I don’t like to be hugged. But here I am opening up about what happened and I’ve now hugged each and every one of my new friends over and over again.

Kairos Outside saved my life. Before Kairos Outside I was suicidal. Kairos not only saved me, they gave me the opportunity to save others. Now I’m one of the leaders of a ministry to women who are in the place I was before.
